Over two years ago I answered a local ad for an Inca 550 jointer/planer. It turned out that his father in law had given it to him in the hopes he would show some interest in woodworking as he is getting up there in years and has quite a collection of equipment. But, the young man is a welder and has no interest in woodwork.
It was missing the outfeed table, but, he assured me, it was at the father in laws and he would find it and bring it to me the next time he went there. Well, that didn’t work out so well. I finally asked for the father in laws number and asked if he wouldn’t mind if I came to his house and helped him look, and he was happy to have me. Turned out he was just as anxious as I was to find it. He and his wife were two of the nicest, kindest people I had ever met.
After searching the shop, as was done before we tried the garage, which has a finished second floor and, lo and behold, up in the second floor on shelves behind the cabbage patch kids, there it was! We had a pretty good laugh about the whole thing, and now I have a tool that I’ve been wanting for quite some time. I only gave the kid a $100 for the thing, and now I have a 10” jointer. I guess persistence does pay off.

Anyway, this mans shop is populated with a Felder 16” J/P and a Felder sliding tablesaw/shaper combo, and a beast of a bandsaw. How he got these things in the basement is beyond me, but now I see why he lost interest in the Inca….

I’m still missing the Suva guard holder, which, due to recent price spikes, has gone from $139 to $189.
They say that it’s probably still at their house somewhere, but I’m debating just building a pork chop for it.
