I posted a similar discussion about my experience with IBC in the reviews, but I wanted to elaborate a bit and see if anybody else had a similar experience. I’ve been getting into more hand tool work, and I decided to purchase a new set of premium bench chisels. I saw that these chisels were endorsed by Rob Cosman and David Charlesworth, and, in several videos, Rob Cosman has said good things about the IBC brand generally. I believe Rob Cosman has a financial stake in this product, but I like his videos and I see him using these chisels in many of his videos, so I figured his endorsement was legitimate.

Once I decided to give the IBC chisels a shot I placed an order. This was about 3 weeks ago. After placing my order, I immediately received an order confirmation and my card was charged in full. Since placing the order I have not heard from IBC at all and I have not received the chisels. Over the past three weeks I have called IBC, sent multiple emails, and made numerous submissions using IBC’s contact us page, but have had absolutely no response from IBC. I even read through IBC’s privacy policy looking for alternate methods of contacting IBC, but to no avail. Not really sure what to do at this point, other than report the charge as fraud.

Just want to share my experience in case anybody else is considering ordering from IBC. Has anybody else had a similar experience? If so, what did you do and how was it resolved? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Yes, I’ve called them twice. Once just rang over and over again. The other time I received an automated recording saying that the international number I attempted could not be reached (I am in US and they are in Canada).

Call your credit card company and file a dispute claim.

Welcome to the IT age and companies with few employees and limited customer service!

I would send them another e-mail advising them wish to cancel the order before contacting your credit card company. Contacting your credit card company and disputing the charge may take little time to settle.

As said, contact your credit card company. However, three weeks is not a lot of time (not even one credit card cycle) so a little more patience may be needed. Also, since Rob Cosman recommended the chisels you could try contacting him for advice. www.robcosman.com

I ordered some plane irons directly from them last year. They make thicker replacement irons that work with Stanley planes. They shipped timely. Had no issues, however I had no reason to contact them directly. Maybe they close for a few weeks during the Summer?

If they can charge your credit card they can answer the darn phone or email. There’s no excuse for charging your credit card before they ship unless the order is a custom job.

And if they are a small shop and off for vacation, it’s simple to have an automated email response saying as much. Same goes for a voice mail.

Most reputable companies don’t charge your credit card until its shipped…at least the ones I deal with…

I ordered the incra ls super system from infinity tools. system is back ordered 6-7 weeks . they billed my credit card upon ordering. it’s been almost 7 weeks. should be here real soon.
