I am building a toy box for my niece so I wanted something unique. When I went to the local hardwood store they suggested wormy red oak. My question is what else is in this wood? It looks like a bit of birds eye and burl but can’t tell. Hope the pictures can show what I mean.

Thoughts?

Suggestions on finish that will bring out the natural colors of the red oak and is tough for a toy box? I don’t want to stain the wood just want to show off its colors. High gloss poly?
