Topic tags/keywords: finish finishing birch baltic birch protective coat lh question

I have a friend that is using Baltic Birch as a work top surface out in Cibola AZ. The work space is in a metal building and will be exposed to extreme temperatures. What would you recommend he use as a protective coat over the Baltic Birch?

Depends on what you are trying to protect it from. BLO, poly, Spar will all stand up to Az. temps but not to sunlight. If it is a worktable, the poly or Spar will be subject to scratches which are hard to repair. He really doesnt need a “protective coat” over BB ply if it is just a work top surface.

Thank you for your input. I’ll pass it on. The work station will be indoors so no direct sun.
