Topic tags/keywords: jig question resource tip trick router

I have a makita RP2301FC router and ordered this guide bushing set off amazon. I can’t seem to figure out how the guide base stays fixed into the router. I found the little metal tab thing that slide under the base plate and looks like it was meant to hold a guide plate in but nothing stops the slide from, well, sliding out. Am I missing a part like a different base plate I need to get or just not seeing something ? There’s 2 tapped holes on either side of the guide plate but the screw heads wouldn’t have the reach to hold down the plate, and if I put washers on there I’d have to grind them to a weird oblong shape which I’m not opposed to doing but since it’s not factory I’m wondering if they would just loosen and the. The plate goes flying off. Am I missing something here ?

Looks like you are missing two compression springs that hold the sliding lever in place (P/N233105-3) ... did they go missing when you took off the base plate?

Part #88 in the parts diagram:

Awesome. Thank you. Luckily one of the only times it pays to be a shop hoarder- I had 2 springs that exact size and they work.
