Do you all think this saw is priced a little high? I think it is at least five years old but has barely been used. Is this saw basically like the 14suv? It does have a 3 hp motor on it.

This saw was the lower version of the 14SUV, they came out at the same time and the SUV (souped up version) had the 3hp motor. I have never seen a non SUV version with a 3hp motor. Either it is a SUV (I can't see it in the picture), it actually has a 2hp motor or it is a very odd duck.

That saw sold for between 1300 and 1400 dollars new, most were bought when Laguna was running 10% off through their retailers, they did it more in that era. The fence was $300 then and the mobility base was roughly $150. I assume you know it is an Asian saw just like the SUV. The SUV is the last holdover from the 3000 line, the other saws were replaced by thee BX line.

It was a solid saw however the BX line is better (IMO) than the 3000 line but the BX 14" saws only have 12" of resaw. I think it is overpriced compared to a new saw but it depends a lot on whether you like the Driftmaster Fence and need the saw to be mobile. I have the DM fence on a couple of my saws and like it BUT it takes up a lot of room on a small 14" saw and some people like cutting veneer to the outside and some don't. It does require setting the fence for each cut. Before I bought this I would buy a BX18 or a Rikon 10-347 new.

Edit I based my comments on the assumption it is a LT14 3000 and not a LT14SUV, if it is the latter the price is less obnoxious again if you want the fence and mobile base.

I would not be too quick to offer thanks until you have verified what AHuxley is saying. That saw looks to me like the 18 inch, 3 HP saw that sells for something like $2400. You need to verify the model to make sure. If it is what I suspect, $1400 could be a good price, depending on condition.

It clearly says 14 on the saw, plus there are several other visual differences to distinguish it from a LT16 3000 or LT18 3000. It is a question of if it is a LT14 3000 or a LT14SUV, the latter would explain the 3hp motor. The only one of the 3000 series saws still for sale new (unless a dealer has really old stock) is the 14SUV. The only 18" (wood only) Asian saw Laguna currently sells is the 18BX which has a 3hp motor (Asian) and 16" of resaw height and sells for $1999.

IN the end the question is is it an SUV or not, there are a couple of things in the picture that makes me think it is and a couple that makes me think it isn't. However, if the 3hp is correct that certainly points to it being an SUV.

FYI the LT18 3000 had a 4hp motor.
