i didn’t know that is new forum was now here, i have to say its nice knowing we have a place to talk openly about other things then just wood work, i appreciate those who made this decision and will enjoy some talk on other things besides wood work, ive missed chatting with a lot of you and hope everyone is doing well, i think some folks will be surprised about the new forum as i was and i hope they can enjoy it as well….thank you lumber jocks..,,just as a update here in my shop, i just finished making a large cedar chest for my daughter in law, it was a fun build, it took the huge chunk out of my cedar reserve, so i will start looking for more cedar soon…im going to be starting a new queen size bed for my oldest son, he wants one like i have, which is a cedar log frame and a solid panel in between, his bed i will use spalted oak..and it will be a full size bed..headboard, foot board..and of coarse a solid rail system.. a big challenge ..lots of sanding on the log posts…but a project i look forward too…..these larger projects are a nice break from the smaller boxes and such ive been doing…maybe i should do a blog on this bed build…i have not done one like that as of yet…maybe its time i try it…so here is a big hello to all who i have not talked to in some time…i hope your all well and that wood working is going well..grizzman
Grizz, Can’t wait to see the pics of that bed! :) Sounds terrific

hey there folks…howdy rivergirl, ellen and david...yes its nice to be able to chat again with the good folks here on lumberjocks…im in the very beginning of the bed so i think i will document the build with pictures and maybe do a three post blog, one with the pictures of the raw material. one of the project midway, and one of the final finished product…of coarse the one in the midway will have pictures of the details..joinery and such…i think it will be fun…so i imagine that with summer here...river girl is outside again going at her wood work, and i hope for you robbin that your business is getting off the ground…have you worked out the details of shipping your doors…its really not hard…its a matter of getting the right packaging materials so you can safely ship it with out it getting damaged..and then picking a shipper who will do a larger package like your doors…but im sure you have gotten to all of that..and i hope you are successful…even though the economy is slower…a lot of wood workers have shut down, leaving opportunity for the ones still trying..so i hope and wish you well…and it looks like david is still dancing…when do you head for home…or is that a way off ??...you folks have a great day…ill poke my head in once in awhile now..its good to have the forum back…..grizz
the forum rules are posted in martins announcement…so its best to read those so your sure…but the word say PLAY NICE…i did not see to many restrictions..but read the rules…that way you know
I will be looking forward to seeing a blog on your building the bed! I am sure it will be wonderful! Just take your time and don’t overdo in the hot weather.
Yep, it is good to see what everyone is up to on this forum. I like that it is not as formal and people don’t feel restricted as to what they can chat about. It will be nice to see how everyone is doing. Glad you checked in! :)
yea sheila i will go slow and its a project i want to make sure i get right all the way, this will be one of several family heirlooms that i have built and want it to be spot on…and now to Dennis, what would be the best thing to talk about here…FOOD OF COARSE…LOL..i just baked a nice big loaf of pumpernickel bread and i have some wonderful pastrami for it…and if i didn’t add the sour kraut, it would be all wrong huh…now we need something sweet…so its your turn Dennis...what should we make…im waiting buddy….grizz…..
