I’ve seen it before, and lately too. I think it could be a problem.

See what you and I mean someone is not doing his work.
Looking for one member you have to go through 6 and 7 of them.
Thanks

Well, to add to the confusion, I’m neither a Bob nor a Fish. I typically take either this name or another (undisclosed) as my screen name in various places. I think I settled on “bob the fish” long ago because it was sort of unassuming, and easy going, giving the impression I wanted. It’s much better than “REXTHORRRRR DESTROYER OF REALMS AND EATER OF BABIES”... XD

Ok, just how many HorizontalMikes are there out there ;-)

But in reality, it looks like everyone needs an adjective attached to their name/handle. Mine (Horizontal) utilizes both astronomy (lay down to look up at the sky) and uses my reputation for laying my Harley down a few too many times (with the rubber tires facing the sky).

Mike, your other site is very interesting. Hope you don’t mind but I dropped a shortcut to it on my desk top. Kudos on your discovery.

Here is what causes the confusion:

When you sign up, you must choose a nickname that is unique (has not been taken already). But then in your profile there is a place to list your “real” name, and you can put anything you want in that space (does not have to be unique). Then, if you choose to have your “real” name appear with your posts, that is the name people will see. Hence, it’s easy to have more than one person posting with the exact same name..

A little off the subject—-Since I use my whole name here that probably won’t be a problem, but a few years ago, another Kent Shepherd who lived here passed away. I had someone call my shop thinking it was me. He was shocked when I answered. I personally was glad he was wrong.

Some of you guys don’t get the point.
If I make a search or Mark, Rick, John or Jack I will get more than one then I have to search again until I get the one I want.
You are not Mark you are vernoator

Charlie hit the nail on the head and I think it may take some programming by Martin to correct the name being used in the title show on here. That HAS to be unique or a search will be in error all the time for those that are duplicated. Good catch Gman. Please relay Charlie’s comment to Martin?

you guys and gals have probably had this experience before. You are somewhere in a croud and some one says your name and you turn around to see who wants you and your find out that they were talking about someone else.

I had never had that experience. If anyone said Carson they were talking about me. One day I was sitting in my office and the secretaries were talking and one of them asid “Last night Carson, did this”. And I turned my head and found out that her husband was named Carson. I had never had that experience before.

So I don’t have that problem on this site.
