I am making band saw boxes out of red cedar. What is good finish to use on this wood? Oil or stain or ????

I make a lot of red cedar boxes and I put no finish on the inside of them but have used many different finishes on the outside, Including: Brushing Lacquer (Deft) , Tung Oil, shallac, wipe on poly and my favorite is a spray on acrilic finish I bought at Walmart paint dept. called Triple thick glaze. I do not stain cedar.

I tend to use shellac.
