Just for you buddy!

Think of all those people around the world who grilled their salmon on cedar, not knowing there was a superior wood option available.

Pretty sure TheFridge throws away the salmon and dines on the Alder. Washes it down with a nice bottle of Chianti.

The Alder plank smoking recipe has been around the PNW for likely centuries. However, since Alder is really only indignous to that region, most people ouside of the PNW don’t know about it. I have lived in the midwest for the last 10 years (military), and it always amazes me that people don’t know the difference to Pacific and Atlantic Salmon either. It’s a huge difference, and I won’t even eat Atlantic Salmon. 90%+ is farm raised and tastes terrible…

Cracking me up!

Breeze, I went with the wild-caught Alaskan salmon, I avoid the farm-raised fish when possible. There is some Shetland Salmon from near Scotland that is incredible when available.

It would be my first time… being a crawdad anyway.

Oh yeah, the Atlantic Salmon caught in Northern Europe is outstanding, just like Pacific Salmon of Alaska and Canada. It’s the cold water that makes wild caught salmon so damn tasty. Unfortunately, most Atlantic salmon in the Eastern US and in the Widwest is farm raised in the Atlantic’s warm currents from the south.
