Does anyone know offhand what the best angle of splay should be for piano-stool legs? Or is it simply a matter of the feet defining a bigger circle than the diameter of the seat?

This is for a project, the classic-styled stool with four turned legs and an Acme screw in the center post to raise/lower the seat.

Thanks, all!

The following link will show you pictures of commercial piano stools. I “Googled” ‘piano stool’ and this was the first hit.

Thanks, everyone!
Now if I could just set my drill-press table to ‘google’ I’d be all set. But seriously, does anyone know offhand the angle of the bore where the leg tenons join the base?

This reminds me of the old comedian, Pete Barbutti, who used to appear on Johnny Carson all the time. He would come out to play the piano, sit down and turn the adjusting knob on the bench a few times, telling the audience that he had “perfect stool” (as opposed to perfect pitch).

I just did a mockup of one in SketchUp that looks about right and my legs were 13 degrees off vertical.
