Al’s “Vintage drills of your dreams” thread has inspired me to cleanup/quasi-restore my no-name bit brace… for the fun of it. So my question is – Can the the ratcheting mechanism on a bit brace be disassembled and cleaned? On my particular brace I can’t see how that’s possible but I thought I would ask. To be honest, I’m more interested in the prospect of if I could do this rather than if I should. If it’s a big no no I won’t attempt it.

The following pic is the brace in its pre-restored state. I’m about halfway through with my “restoration.” When I finish I’ll post the after pics.
