I’ve got a camp that I’d like to add some simple built-in shelves to, but I want to try and find the same wood that it’s made out of so they blend in better. It’s in southern Maine and is about 50 years old, if that’s a clue.

I’m guessing it’s something native to the region, perhaps a Red Pine, Hemlock or Larch?

Looks like pine to me. If it is pine you should be able to smell it. Pine IMO has such a distinct smell that it would be easy to ID if smelled. Run a piece of sand paper over a tiny spot and take a sniff.

A third vote for pine. The smell is the key. To get a really good whiff, drill a good size hole in an inconspicuous place.

Determining that it is pine may not be enough because there are several variations of pine.
