It doesn’t need to be a big one, but it does need to be a good one. It’ll be used for small wood projects in my small wood shop.

TIA

How big? Table top or floor standing? Rikon seems to be a good brand for 14”

Thanks for your tip. It’ll mount to my work table – so a table top. I’ll look into Rikon. Thx if I don’t hear back from you.

Then you are probably looking for this one:
http://www.rikontools.com/productpage_10-300.htm

Probably best from Amazon at $285:
http://www.amazon.com/RIKON-10-300-10-Inch-Band-Saw/dp/B002FB74TW
because shipping is cheap

Although Woodcraft has it at $279

Aloha hab

I am a new band saw user & recently purchased a Rikon 14” 10-325 floor stander type. Got it from Woodcraft on sale for $745. Does a damn good job & has lots of power – well at least enough for a hack like me. Anyway I see you may be interested in a bench model. Just wanted to let you know so far the Rikon brand has been reliable & a welcome addition to the shop .

I have the little Rikon 10” suggested in the links above. Great little saw. I like it a lot.

For what it’s worth, Sears sells the same saw with a black paint job and a Craftsman badge. Sometimes they have it on sale for less than $200.

Be careful if you go that route, because Sears also sell a 9” saw that looks very similar that gets real bad reviews. I was almost fooled by this saw. Glad I went down to Sears and opened the hood and checked it out. Plastic wheels, no fence, smaller motor, cheap guides on the 9”. Don’t go there.

What about the Jet 10 bandsaw, can be mounted to a bench or comes with a stand. I have been wanting information on this saw, but can’t seem to find any.

In all honesty, I have seen the Jet and the Rikon sitting side by side in a store and the only difference I could see was the Jet had a base and a white paint job; and about $100 bigger price tag.

I’m no bandsaw expert but I discovered after buying my Rikon bench top that the only place I could buy replacement blades is from Woodcraft on line. So when the one blade you get with your saw breaks, you wait unless you have a Rikon dealer down the street….....

Thank you brtech, bluesmarky, crank49, cr1 and redryder.

I will try the Craftman version of the 10”. If I can’t find that one, I’ll go the route of the Rikon.

Check out Grizzly, too. They’ve got a couple of really good 14” bandsaws. Shipped to your house for less than $600.
