Hey all- general question here. We purchased some birch butcher blocks and made the mistake of letting sit in garage for a week. The installers will be here tomorrow but by the time they install the acclimation time will only be around 52 hours. They are KILN dried and we had no rain but very hot here in Iowa. How big of a risk am I at if issues?

I guess that all depends on how similar your garage’s climate is to your house! Overall, I don’t think birch has any more movement than other woods. Ultimately, I hope that your installer installs the butcher blocks to allow for some movement, because unless your home is very steady, they’ll move a little as the “climate” changes…

Overall, I think you should be fine.

Well hopefully you didn’t lay it on a concrete floor, but under normal circumstances you should be ok as long as the installers allow for movement in the installation, because it is going to move in your home anyway.

Thanks everyone! No it was propped on table. And in the house they have been sitting on some wood props to allow air flow. they will not fasten with glue to allow movement. My moisture reader was reading at 6% but I’m not sure about the center of the butcher block hopefully no issues!
