For Sale: 2” Socket Chisel (Framing Slick). Stamped “Middlesex Mfg. Co., Middletown, Conn”. This middle 1800’s collector’s tool was bought by my grandfather and has been in the family since then. Steel is 8 ½” long. Newer handle. Asking $35.

For Sale: 1” Socket Chisel (Framing Slick). Stamped “T.H. Witherby, Manufactured In Winsted, Conn”. A middle to late 1800’s collector’s tool. Bought by my grandfather when he lived in Winsted. Steel is 10 ¾” long. Recent handle. Asking $30 .

From a guy clean across the country those are some great tools from CT. Ive got 2 witherby chisels and a draw knife which are still razor sharp and hold a great edge to them. Spend much time in the state?

The whole family moved to Oregon in 1910, just after my father was born (in Winsted).
I don’t think any of the family every went back to CT. even to visit. Now they’re all gone
except for a couple of cousins that are my age ( early seventies).
