Topic tags/keywords: stanley 55 plane

Anyone have a Stanley no 55 plane with the cutters, in excellent condition, that they want to sell? I am working on some antique doors and trim. Could use one of these to help duplicate some mouldings.

Ebay has dozens of these. Not sure why excellent condition is necessary for a user, but a quick look at eBay reveals a full range of styles and conditions.

Appreciate the reply. I would agree that I do not need “excellent” condition for the work I want to do. Should have written “good usable condition”. Just would prefer to spend my time working on my house as opposed to restoring a plane and looking for parts. Have started watching them on ebay and noticed they seem to be”collector quality” which I do not need or missing parts/cutters which I am trying to avoid. Since it now usually costs 15% or more to sell on ebay was hoping someone here might have one to sell that they have not listed on ebay.

I actually do not really like “collector quality” tools. I have a Buck Rogers plane that I happened upon when buying a group of tools. I never use it as I do not want to damage it for some collector who would appreciate it more than I do.

I think I do, it’s either 45 or 55, I bought it years ago with the thought of cleaning it up and see what it can do. I’ll look in the morning.
