Anyone know of a retailer who has a copy of “The Art of Joinery” printed by Christopher Schwarz’s Lost Arts Press? I emailed Lost Arts and John told me that they have none in stock. Tools for Working Wood is out of stock as well…

Brian, The Art of Joinery appears to be available at But it comes with a $209.97 price tag.

There is a downloadable version (appears to be what you are talking about), for $7.00

You can also download a free pdf copy of the original 1703 version, “Mechanick Exercises: Or The Doctrine Of Handy-Works” by Joseph Moxon through Google Books. Of course, the old-style long ’s’ and alternative spellings and grammar can be a pain when reading it, but the text is remarkably clear.
