Was thinking of purchasing a 1hp floor model Grizzly oscillating spindle sander and was wondering if anyone has one and could advise me of their satisfaction or dissatisfaction of the tool.
THANKS

I saw one at a woodworking show and it looked pretty heavy duty. It’s on my list of needed tools.

I would be interested in others thoughts also.

I have their bench top model, but don’t recommend it. All plastic and table is not adjustable. It’s over priced for what you get. I buy equipment from Grizzly all the time, but I no longer by Grizzly branded low in tools.

I have been looking at this one as well. I always thought that Grizzley made solid tools until I read Dave’s comment.

I have the same OSS as Dave, and I have found it more than adequate for my needs.

To Motthunter:
I was wondering if you could give me more info about your test. Were you at a Grizzly store in Pennsylvania? I’m not very familiar with their operation.

Thanks to everyone who responded

I recently bought a spindle sander that was a bench top style. I am currently working on a rocking horse that requires a lot of sanding to be done with a spindle sander. The one that I had did the job really well and did not bog down, and the dust collection was top notch. You can see my review on this sander this is one of those tools that is nice to have. However I do not think that is one that you want go over board on since its uses are kind of limited.

I looked up the grizzley spindle sander on amazon and for 595 bucks it looks like a real work horse

I have ryobi spindle sander and use it regularly. It was cheap. don’t remember price, but for as much as I use it … a steal. So far so good. Held up for years and years.

My wood supplier has one and really likes it. It gets used on average of 6daysa week in the summer. Wish I had the funds to get one.

I have a spindle sander , Have had it for quite a while but seldom use it. I guess in some instances it is good but I am selling it as I can use the space for some thing else. Would not be on my first needed list.
BUT if I could find a good used drum sander .
