Has anyone purchased from this source? http://www.polleywood.com/ They are in Lake Ariel, Pa just north of 84. Their prices seem reasonable but I am looking for some feedback on quality and customer service if anyone has any experience with them. I’m looking to take a drive there in about two weeks. -- John, Long Island, NY |

Reasonable prices? Cherry for 4.50 a foot?! I know I can’t come close to that here in WA. I just put in an order for Cherry and I’m paying $8 a foot for that. -- Sam |

I’m up in Syracuse and might have to make a trip down there for walnut and oak. Let me know if you try it out. -- Brian T. - Exact science is not an exact science |

I haven’t yet bought anything from Polley. I made the journey out to Lake Ariel one Saturday morning but they weren’t open. It’s a small operation run by one person, so I would call to make an appointment. From what I could see, he had a fairly nice inventory for a one-man operation. The funny thing is that I used to have a house in Lake Ariel but never went there. Now my house is about 30 miles east of Lake Ariel so it’s a bit of a haul to get there considering I need to borrow a friend’s truck to make it work. -- Altruism is, ultimately, self-serving |

Bunkie, I’ll let you know what I see if I get out there. Thanks for your reply. -- John, Long Island, NY |

Much to my surprise, I found a supplier in Stormville, NY for slightly less than Bill. I was looking forward to going out there but hard to justify an extra 100 miles each way for more costly wood. I might eventually get out there though. He comes well recommended. Thanks to all for their feedback. -- John, Long Island, NY |

He( Bill Polley ) is one of the best you will find. He does not just sell some of the nicest lumber I have ever purchased, he also is a woodworker and can help you with a lot wood related question along with a great inventory of fine lumber. He is the type of person that after your second trip to his mill you are calling him your friend as I have for several years now. -- Guy Kroll www.thelandsathillsidefarms.org |
