I’ve never once sharpened or replaced the knives on my jointer. They’s pretty well nicked now, fairly deep nicks, so I’d like to replace them as it’ll likely cost about the same as sharpening, plus I can sharpen my old ones and have a spare set.

According to Grizzly’s technicians the knives are 6” x 1” x 1/8” (3 knives).
Grizzly sells a set of 3 HSS knives (#G6697) for $49.99 which seems double what other’s charge.
Can anyone recommend a set that will be nice and sharp and not need additional honing for a better price?
Thanks a bunch for any recommendations.

The 1/8” x 1” x 6” is pretty standard for a jointer knife set so size is easy to find a LOT of places. Just Google “Jointer knives 1/8” x 1” x 6” ” and you will get countless hits. For my $$$$$$ though I would go with the ones found at.

Infinity tools set of 3 for $69.90 CARBIDE TIPPED

Most of the knives you will see offered will be high speed steel, the carbide will cut truer, and a lot longer. Just don’t go hitting any nails. Infinity is a pretty quick shipper, carries a good product line, and are usually in or around the ballpark of the real value of anything. Some of their stuff sounds more expensive, but it’s in the higher quality end of things.

If you think HSS will be fine, and don’t mind sharpening once in a while I would go to.

“Holbren Tools their 6” x 1” by 1/8 in HSS is $21.87

If you decide on the Holbren, PM me and I’ll tell you info to put on your order which will save you some $$$$

I have had good luck with Powertec knives from amazon for my Delta Jointer. 15 bucks a set. I bought 2 spares to keep int he drawer. They may make a size for your Grizzley.

I bought the powertec for my 6” ridgid and liked them until i got 2 different sets that were ground with a bit of an arc along the cutting edge. After that i started ordering them from Holbren. I have been very happy with their knives.

I’ve been happy with the Infinity HSS knives (HSSK-012) on my G1182. Holbren always offers great products and good prices too.

I just ordered a set of titan HSS knives from Oella Saw and Tool out of Maryland. Complete set of 6 1/8” x 5/8×3/32” knives for my old Delta Jointer were $20 bucks shipped. Got them installed to .001 to 003 above the outfeed table and they cut smooth as butter. Amazing how a fresh set of knives can improve a cut! Ordered the knives on a Tuesday had them by Friday. They also have the cheapest prices on Byrd Helical Heads. Check them out!

Thanks for all the great the feedback!
I think I’m going to try the Holbren HSS as they appear inexpensive and reliably good quality.
