I like to welcome new members. I do not welcome all new members, just the ones that I think are real woodworkers. I want to apologize to those real woodworkers that live in the New York area. I have found that 90% of the time, when I see ‘New York’ or ‘usa’ under their name, they have become members just to sell their product. So, I no longer welcome those new members. I hope that someday that is no longer a problem.

Ron,
I’m sorry you feel that way. That explains why you never welcomed me :P

yea, there is new york and then there is new york. I travel a lot for work, so when people ask me where I’m from I respond with ├╝pstate NY”. I’m not selling anything, but can’t say I wouldn’t.

hah 95% of NY is “upstate”, hence me referring to Rochester as being W.NY all the time

They consider me in upstate NY Orange County about 20 minutes from Bethel Woods (Woodstock Festival).

I’m not selling anything but if you want to buy something I’ll sell it for the right price.

Dan, right at this moment I checked and you are not listed as a new member. When I do check, I look to see if a new member has posted one of the following: a photo, has posted a project, or made a comment. If not I do not know for sure. I know that I will miss someone who really is a real woodworker. My definition of a real woodworker is anyone who joins Lumberjocks and wants to share and learn about woodworking.

Strong callout, Ron. I like a man like that. I also like a man that builds bridges like that. I’ve got a piece on my property that’s screaming footbridge. I look at the one in your projects often. A fan (and woodworker), Al

A note about the bridge: as I stated in my post: “I built it for my niece. Her husband is a dentist. He does my dental work and I do his woodworking”. And then ‘SCOTSMAN’ stated “you do his bridge work and he does your bridge work”.

well, I’ve got a real shop with real tools and turn out real projects. I think that makes me a real woodworker. Am I good at it? Well that may be a question for another post.

Ron, belated thanks for the welcome. It only took me 438 days for my first post. I guess that I should stop all this lurking.

My projects are mostly crap; but thankfully I’m from Canada, so maybe I’ll end up on your welcome list.
