mdf smaller inventory is actually more expenosive than the much larger table room size mdf.

I dont want more money on smaller sizes.

could I just use real wood like pine, would real wood actually hurt the sound of solid stat

Most stores that sell sheet stock also have a panel saw and can cut the sheet down for you, too, so that is an option. Plan on having them cut slightly oversize so that you can square up the cuts, though, as it’s hit and miss depending on the machine and the operator.
