Looks like it is missing the base. My 34-450 unisaw has a case iron base.

That fence is okay, but you would much prefer a Beismeyer type of fence on a saw like that.
I’m sure they are out there for around the same money as that one.

I wouldn’t pay 750 with no base and that fence. In fact without the base I don’t know if I would want it at all.

Not having the plinth base is disappointing, but it opens the door to build a base more conducive to dust collection. A good price for that saw more or less complete would be be about $400. Missing the plinth, I might go $300 else I’d keep looking.

Delta Contractors Saw

Pros:
  • Has the Beismeyer style fence
  • Half the money
  • Portable, lightweight (good or bad?)
Cons:
  • Lightweight – obviously not a dedicated shop saw, but for at home projects? Maybe
  • I am seeing this for the first time – no history like other models, so an uncertainty aspect here.
  • Beismeyer fence knock offs, like this one, are often made with inferior materials

If you know the saw you want and you know what the “great buy” price would be, just be patient.
Eventually, it will pop up.

uh, mine doesn’t have a cast iron base, bought it new in late 80s, almost identical saw, i have the uni fence though.

unisaws don’t come up for sale here in this price range much, usually over 1k or so, no matter the shape.

anyway, just incase anyone was looking for one, if it runs and in decent shape a good price for phoenix, metro area.
just saying

The cast iron plinth was used until sometime around the 50/60’s IIRC, at which time they switched to a stamped steel one. The one in the CL list however doesn’t have either (it should have had a stamped steel one), which is a red flag IMO. Certainly way, way more than what I would pay for it, even if it did have the plinth.

Cheers,
Brad

Just for comparison…

A few years back I picked up my Jet table saw for around $700 on craigslist.

I’ve been very happy with it. The fence is so-so, but the sliding table with miter jig is great.

I used up two direct drive craftsman 10” saws over about 25 years prior to getting this one.

(P.S. I haven’t seen the shop floor since about the day after this pic was taken)
