I received this message:

Just take a moment to focus on what this special day really is for….without those who gave their life, and for those out there who are risking their life everyday….we wouldn’t have what we have today. Don’t forget to put out your flag in honor of them.

and it hit me like a ton of bricks. It included this photo:

which melted me into a blob. My respect has no words. There are many veterans here; I am not among those privileged to have served; but you have my complete and total respect.

For the site police, I like to do woodworking. I made this squirrel call out of Mopani, then gave it to a French colleague, which makes me not only generous but “worldly”. :) Happy Memorial Day, my good friends.

Hopefully one day the world will come to a global peace, once the whole mankind will have grown up enough.

Agreed, Thomas. I’m admittedly headstrong and hostile at times, but the sacrifice is undeniable, no matter what side of the fence you’re on. There it goes again! That high fret solo in my mind every time I see your avatar!

A heartfelt thank you for your service, Deptuy Dawg, Navy. There are a disproportionate number of Navy guys in medicine (my profession) and their character doesn’t end with their honorable service. A true pleasure to be around.

I have no doubt, one day we will not stand the madness.
One day we will have this global peace.
One day we will not accept to live in fear.
I will accept only love.
Best thoughts,
Mads

I hope you’re right, Mads. This day I yearn for; in the interim, however, I honor those that try to keep the peace.

Me too, I have a deep respect for that, and honor them highly.
Just sometimes sad our goverments not always seem to choose wars from a perspective of peace making, and if there are one thing I find sad, then it is guys fighting for the wrong case, or even worse families loosing them.
But I think we are going into a new time now, where most wars will be for peace, and then slowly they will not be needed, thanks God the cold war is over, there are no thread, so let’s live in that belive.
Best thoughts,
Mads

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The United States of America for any amount, up to and including his/her life.

Whoa, powerful stuff from Gerry. Worth taking a bit of time to digest. Kevin, my South Carolina neighbor, rest well, my friend. We’ll see you tomorrow:)
