I’m no saint, in fact, I’m a scumbag. However, I do respect the sensibilities of other LJs here, some of whom are quite religious. That being said, I could do without the “sexy singles” advertising banner across the top of the page. It seems woefully inappropriate here and I worry that it offends. Just some feedback. -- My dad and I built a 65 chev pick up.I killed trannys in that thing for some reason-Hog |

I do agree with you, that’s nonproductive and completely irrelevant. -- Thomas - There is no such thing as a problem, there only are solutions. |

Well, it seems to be perfectly OK to have site advertisements promoting “off topic” goods and services, but humor seems to be not wanted. -- Roger-R, Republic of Texas. "Always look on the Bright Side of Life" - An eyeball to eyeball confrontation with a blind person is as complete waste of Time. |

Rex speaks! It just seems to me that with this site traffic, you don’t need to resort to Match.com for your advertising dollar. I, of course, can handle direct porn of horrific demeaning variety, but I’ve already admitted my quality of character. Just seems out of place on a website where I’d hazard a guess that most members are 50+ year old married men with grandchildren. Just feedback. -- My dad and I built a 65 chev pick up.I killed trannys in that thing for some reason-Hog |

I actually just ignore the ads. IMO, they are the price we pay for having the site available. I also doubt that Martin has much control over individual ads. Anyway, if there was a post with a Phillip Marcou plane picture in it, I gurantee I would never even see the sexy singles ad. : ^ ) -- We must guard our enthusiasm as we would our life - James Krenov |

There are two people who enforce the content on site, Martin and Debbie. The rest of us need to take a chill pill if we get the urge to police. If you see an issue, send a PM to Martin or Debbie and give them some time to resolve the issue. The old adage applies. Don’t wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig loves it. Our job is to relax, get to know each other and enjoy the site. -- We must guard our enthusiasm as we would our life - James Krenov |

The ads are targeted to your browsing habits. Sites are dropping “cookies” If you want the ads to change, try clearing the cookies and cache in |

Loren has it right. I see ads for solar….which I was researching for a project for a friend that is interested in adding solar to their energy mix. At work, all of our computers are set up to deny cookies….so I see generic ads if I check LJ’s there. We are also restricted from loading sites that are considered off color – (I do the monitoring). I guess I am just not that interesting a person as my adds don’t include any singles and porn…darn..I guess I need to branch out a bit? So Bertha….stay out of those “nasty” sites…..or do as Loren says and clear your history. -- Woodworking.....My small slice of heaven! |

I’ve just seen I can get a Fish pedicure in Northampton. I kid you not!!!! Now I must admit to being curious. I don’t own any fish, but if I did I’m not sure I’d spend money to give them a pedicure since last time I ate one, I’m pretty certain that it didn’t have any toes. So out of pure curiousity I clicked on the add and saw a lovely pair of female feet in a bowl of water with a lot of little fish knawing on her feet. Just the thought of it gives me the giggles. :-) -- Andy -- Old Chinese proverb say: If you think something can't be done, don't interrupt man who is doing it. |

Andy, we’ll all get together for fish pedicures; meet us in Denmark, as Mads will need his toes tuned up. -- My dad and I built a 65 chev pick up.I killed trannys in that thing for some reason-Hog |

Actually, the owners have(in a way) asked us to help police the content here. That’s what the “Flag” links are for on every post. There are two mechanisms to bring this to the attention of the managment. Bertha chose the public one. No biggie. I don’t always agree with Bertha’s point of view or approach but hey, what else is the ‘Site Feedback forum’ for other than discussing these things publicly? I appreciate your concern Bertha. Have you ever wondered how in the world the “meet your classmates” type of ads can afford all the publicity they get? If they had to actually pay for those ads it would cost them a fortune. I just figure those as “Filler” for lack of ability on the part of site managment in getting pertinent ads. -- Backer boards, stop blocks, build oversized, and never buy a hand plane-- |

I’m certainly not trying to start a fight, although I’ve managed to plan one somehow. I’m not personally offended by the material, it just worried me that someone would be; nothing more. I don’t know of any other avenue, as the flag button doesn’t apply to ads. I simply open it up for discussion, Rance, everyone has the option of not opening a thread entitled “siingles”. I actually agree with you more than I don’t, Rance. Our minor skirmishes have endeared you to me;) -- My dad and I built a 65 chev pick up.I killed trannys in that thing for some reason-Hog |
