Hello fellow LJ’s

I’ve been here on this forum for quite some time now, and have found it to be one of the greatest communities on the internet I have been involved with. With that being said, this probably the only site I feel comfortable sharing this story with.

My Grandmother is on a fixed income, and has had my Uncle and his wife leeching off of her for years. Well, for the most part everything has gone well, until yesterday her main sewer line backed up. A friend went to attempt and snake it, and he said that it probably is tree roots grown into the line, and it is going to require them to dig it up and replace it.

Well, that’s where I come in. I can’t afford to help her out with any money, but I do have one thing, and that is my woodworking. My Mother and I have come up with the idea to hold a raffle to raise money to help her pay for the repairs. My Mother is finishing a quilt (which I will have pictures of tomorrow) and I am donating a bowl I have made to raffle off.

The bowl I am raffling is

We are planning on selling raffle tickets for $2 each, and we are hoping to raise at least a few hundred dollars or more to help offset the costs.

If anyone here at Lumberjocks would be interested in buying a raffle ticket or 3, please private message me for details on how to get yours. Also, I will pay shipping to anywhere in the U.S. if you do win, so you don’t have to worry about any extra costs involved if you do win. I will attach a picture of the quilt that will be part of the raffle once I get it, but my Mother does excellent work and I can assure you, it will be beautiful.

Thanks for looking.

Although this quilt isn’t the exact one up for Raffle, my mother says it will be similar to this one.

The quilt will be a scrap quilt, top is made, but I need to put the backing on, trust me this will be a well loved quilt large enough for a bed, or for a picnic..and sturdy enough to toss into the washer and dryer…using 100% cotton on the top and a fleece back, for comfort. Great for cuddling at a foot ball game or for the kids to make a “fort” at home. This quilt will become a family favorite! Trust me, I have one just like it!!

If anyone has any recommendations on how to get more people involved in this it would be appreciated… I would really like to raise some money to help my Grandmother.
