Ive been a big fan of Norton 3x sanding discs despite their price for several years. A friend told me that Abranet is his disc of choice. Do any of you jocks have an opinion based on experience with both? Which is faster, lasts longest, etc. Abranet goes up to 1000 grit so might be useful for sanding poly before buffing with compound? Thanks in advance for your input.

I typically use Norton, but only because it is half of the Abranet price. I really want to try the Abranet.

Still haven’t tried the Abranet (concerns about it eating the backer pads) but I’m happy with the Norton 3x (much better than the standard Norton). What took you all so long to reply?? Rance, the 3x is closer to the Abranet price. Abranet has a promo where you get a 5” variety pack for $33. ( 2

we use abranet for sanding our paint finishes. they don’t clog with paint and you get a very fine finish. bare wood still gets the traditional sanding disc treatment
