Asking for a friend but has anyone has receive a Festool case that was dirty when received, or the lid not opening and closing smoothly when delivered?? Another question, does anyone have any Festool tools that the castings dont appear to be the cleanest on?? The price of their tools compels the question being asked.

Any thoughts?? Think he should return it and request a new one (purchased from CPO) or contact Festool and see what they say??

Definitely YES. I worked at a retailer that sold Festool and will say Festool is top notch in their shipping methods. If the customer received it dirty, it didn’t come from Festool that way. Is it possible he bought a reconditioned tool? Festool can tell the history of the tool via it’s serial number.

Ok I will let him know, he said it was just the systainer thrown in a cardboard box and shipped. Does not sound right to me, I know when I ship something it gets padding and/or bubble wrap every time. Got it through their ebay account, and the listing said new. Do you think we should call festool, or just try to return it? I had always heard good things about CPO, but after this I would be apprehensive about placing an order with them.

That’s how stuff I got from CPO was shipped and it usually doesn’t work. Their definition of reconditioned is different from mine. I don’t buy from them any more.

Sounds like it may have been “New”ly reconditioned and not brand new. Going to work on getting him a refund and placing an order somewhere else. Thanks for the input fellas (and ladies if applicable).

Regarding the ‘casting’ issue – I know the quality of the casting of the Kapex has been discussed several times before on the Festool Forum. Seems the edge is quite rough and not what you would expect from a miter saw that cost 3x the price of a ‘normal’ saw. Of course the kool-aid drinkers immediately attacked the poster, but from the pictures I saw, I would not be happy with the way it looked. (Just to be clear, it was a cosmetic issue only, but still….)

That is what it is looking like, even the film on the bottom was peeling off and was all scuffed/scratched which seems off.
