I have my last piece of walnut and I was afraid I might screw it up, so I used this piece of alder to try my design. Didn’t work, but I ended up with a small Alder bowl.

Yes, Alder. I’ve turned quite a bit of it because it grows on the property and seems to fall over in some of the heavy winds we get here in the winter time.
