Topic tags/keywords: question sharpening

My Father in law used to be in the saw sharpening buiness and gave me one of his Foley 387 filers and a 32000 Retoother unfortunately it is missing the ratchet bars and he said that he never had them and the retoother was never used. Anyone have an idea where I can find some or where to get some made for it?

Thanks,
Straust

Sorry, I know you had a legitimate question but I got distracted after googling ratchet bats. What did you need?

Err…

From what I’ve seen those ratchet bars are impossible to find anywhere but ebay when you’re getting really lucky. I've heard of people making them from threaded bar stock though, matching up thread pitch with the bar spacing.

I’d grab a McMaster Carr catalog and start figuring out what matches up instead of crossing my fingers and hoping that something shows up on the Fleabays in the next few weeks.

Haha, Thanks BoardButcherer. I would love to see the machine in action again. I may have to see if I can make some thing to get going.

Have your say...
