I am frustrated by a constantly recurring pop-up that is supposedly from Amazon.com. I am certain that it is bogus. They tell me that I have been selected to win a great prize. There is a three part quiz that you must endure to win the prize, but I have proven to myself that entering three obviously wrong answers gets you a perfect score. I have not gone beyond that.

I am using an I-Pad with the latest version of the operating software. I have gone into the settings and have erased any cookies or previous Internet sites. I can access the Lumberjocks site on my standalone PC and I do not have the problem.

This only happens when I am logged on to the Lumberjocks website with my I-pad. I can surf the web with the same I-pad with no problems. Go to Lumberjocks, and I get the offending redirect to the “this is your lucky day” website.

What I would call the recycle time for the problem is about 20 – 30 seconds. I cannot log on to the Lumberjocks site for longer than that without getting redirected.

There is a very black spot in my heart for the assholes who programmed this shit in the first place.

Any suggestions about how to get rid of it?

Anymideas as to why it is ONLY with this website?

As soon as I posted I got the Amazon pop-up. When I tried to go back to edit my original post I was blocked again. I tried again to get to the posting and got the pop-up three times before getting to post this.

Do I need to send my I-pad to the burn barrel?

Added in proof: Just confirming, I cannot edit my original post, mere minutes after posting. Something is not right. Fortunately, I can edit this post to report it.

Added about ten minutes later: Yep, I cannot edit the original even from my PC which seems to operate normally with the website.

its a crapple product.. be my guest! <grin> seriously though, it is very odd to get any popups on an ipad. Lumberjocks suppress adds for members that are signed in to the board. its a head scratcher.

Yes, but it is not a “ head – scratcher” it is an ASS – scratcher. I got the pop-up while reading you reply. Had to abort and reload Lumberjocks to finish reading. Only this site and I have cleared everything I can think of to get rid of it.

WOW! I checked that site out and I was amazed at the huge number of selections. Any suggestions as to how one decides which of the hundreds of potential sites are destined for the burn pile and which ones you should keep? From the names of the sites I was not certain which ones might be linked to places I actually want to visit.

Install Ad Blocker for a $1.99 and it, and other ads, will stop.

Same problem , i installed ad blocker pro, as cl810 suggested and i havent had one of thise pop-ups since ( more than 2 weeks). There r several ad blockers in the app store so i included a photo. Even better, the pro version was free.

Have your say...
