I picked up a Jet 6” jointer circa 1984 that appears to be in good condition. I’ve never gone through the steps to set one up and when I tried I managed to put everything out of whack. Is there a blog with pictures or even video that describes what steps I need to do to set it up correctly? All the knobs and cranks are very daunting.

I don’t know about the 66 but here is whay my Jet has.

The infeed table has three knobs one ajusts the table hight and the other two lock the table in place (one knob locks the front and the other locks the back)
Outfeed table has the same.

If you youtube setting up a jointer you will find a tonne of videos on setting the thing up, make sure your blades are setup straight and true to the outfeed table. I have learned the hardway that setting up a jointer properly is an art, it will take you some time to get it proper.

The latest edition (June 2011) of Woodworker’s Journal also has an article on jointer setup.
