As I’ve said I’m a total newbie when it comes to woodworking but it’s something I’ve wanted to do for many many years. I’ve always admired those who can make such incredible designs and items from wood. So, the other day I went to wood shop in the area here where they basically carry many domestic and exotic species of rough milled wood and sell it all by the bg. I’m asking the person there what each wood is as I walk up to it and for some reason every other piece I went to was dark mahogany or black walnut. So much so he started laughing about it also. Guess it’s the German side of the family that I get the dark wood attraction to. haha I was able though to get a beautiul 6’ board of Cherry (at $3.90/bf) and 3 feet of Purpleheart for $4.10/bf which I intend to use to make my wife a jewelry box for her birthday. Anyway, just thought I’d share the experience and bring a laugh. -- Chris ~~Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past." |
