anOTHER wood ID - is this walnut?

Found this log by the curb. Sapwood was punky, white, bug-infested, soft.
Heartwood is dark, beautiful colors (photo doesn’t do it justice).
I’m thinking walnut, what do you all think?
Location: Southeast TX, north of Houston.
There are wild walnuts here, but not common. I thought the bark looked like Cherry – that’s why I picked it up. Definitely not cherry.
In the last pic I rubbed it with MS to bring the colors into the photo.

I’d guess walnut based on the colors and white sapwood, but I’d imagine there are other fruit/nut trees with similar colors.

That grain would make for nice display surfaces!

Beautiful curb find-lovely grain in that last pic
and it sure looks like walnut

post pics of whatever you use that for
