If it has a belt you want to start there. that is probably the best thing to go wrong. If it is a shaft or bearing doing the squealing, pitch it under a bus or something…..
I had this happen to mine. It was the small PC compressor that I got with a 3 gun kit. It would do the squeal then after a bit of doing that it would start locking up and I would have to let the air out of it. I can't say that I ever figured out why it was doing that I just used it as an excuse to upgrade. Sorry I know it is not the answer you want but at least you know that you are not alone with the issue.
