Hello. I have a jointer that takes 6” x 1” x 1/8” blades. I am looking at some 6” x 7/8” x 1/8” blades. I assume the 7/8” height vs. 1” is not going to make a difference and will fit fine. I seem to have quite a bit of room when I’m placing blades in the cutter head. I wanted to check before ordering though. I have a G1182 jointer and Grizzly could not give me a yes or no answering without “being in front of the machine.” Thanks.

I don’t think that 1/8” will make much of a difference other than not being able to sharpen them as much, but since you are ordering new knives, why not just get the right size?

Cheers,
Brad

Pretty much the price. I’m looking at some Freud blades that are only $29. Any suggestions for alternate brands welcome though. I appreciate the response.

Those Freud C360’s should be fine. The C370’s are the correct size, but only ship in sets of two. Here are a few other options though:

6 x 1 x 1/8 Jointer / Planer Knives, Grizzly – $24.90 at amazon

Set of 3 HSS Blades for Grizzly 6'' Jointer, G1182 – $23.75 at mywoodcutters.com

I think Powertec also has a set, but can’t find them at the moment.

You can also go a bit longer, and use the 6-1/8” kinves, so your selection opens up even more.

Cheers,
Brad

Thanks. Called Grizzly again and got a different person. Unless really off, the height only affects how many times you can sharpen. So they agree with you- the Freud blades referenced above will work. Thanks again.

Have your say...
