Topic tags/keywords: question

For the past two months +or- , I keep getting a pop-up warning along with a notice”beep” stating ”An add-on for this website failed to run. Check the security settings in Internet Options for potential conflicts”.
I have done so numerous times and have reset everything , trying different settings with no positive results.
This is the only website that I am having this issue on.
Any thoughts from you computer savvy LJs out there ?
Thanks
Len

As you may know, I am a software engineer – and have long gone stopped using IE… it always proves to be nothing more than trouble with no benefits to using it. I personally use Safari, Chrome and Firefox (in that order).

That said, you may want to check on IE->Internet Options->Security->WAN->Advanced that “enable Javascript” and “enable Java” and “enable activeX” are turned on for starters.

Google Chrome works great..
I gave up on Internet Explorer long ago, went to Firefox, and now use chrome. I had problems with IE.

No luck , Sharon …everything was already on : (
Thanks Hairy…....I’m looking for someone with an answer / fix .
I was going to suggest that Mac users and other browser users don’t need to comment , but I don’t want to offend anyone. I’m just looking for a fix : )

I hope you get your problems fixed Len. (I’m no help) I just saw what I posted above on a site I visit and thought it was funny. But I know how frustrating computer problems can be, good luck.

Len, you don’t mention what you are doing when you get that message. I also have IE8 and have no problems like you are. Check out rivergirls blog (a day or two ago) about her pop-up problems. What OS are you using? Ever since I started using win7 my problems have gone away. NOW, with that said, I have never used any of the other search engines like the others suggest.

Just my thoughts

WA,Jr ,
XP, IE8…this just started a short while ago and now the frustration level has increased enough that I thought I’d reach out to the smarter folks here. It actually started when they made some “improvements” to the site , and the banner buttons were all messed up. I’ll check the forums to see if I can find my question at that time.

Just updated to IE9, so far so good, not sure for how long before I’ll encounter the same problem again, again again.

XP-IE8 here and no problems so far. Have you run a virus protection lately?

I tried to use Chrome with my lap top and I go to a lot of sites that require a log in but Chrome does not recognize them as a log in screens? My lap top has a finger print scanner which I really love because I can use it without having to remember the pass words which is nice for banking, brokerage and I can use alpha numeric string 16 digits long or more. Does anyone know how to overcome this?

I don’t think IE9 supports windows XP
You can try clicking on the tools menu and click on compatibility view
or you could reset Internet Explorer to the default settings

I don’t use IE and have no idea re: your problem. On other discussions people kept saying check “compatibility”, if I remember correctly.
