Topic tags/keywords: trick mallet budget

I didn’t want to post this in projects as there wasn’t work in it. Lee Valley were selling off “seconds” of their spokeshave handles for $2. I tapped a hole in some brass rod I found in a box in my shed and voila…..

Nice easy build if you can find the handles, if not the spoke shave handle kits are $10 and you can build 2! Weights about 14oz, I wouldn’t smash anything with it, but it’s a nice tapping hammer

Nicely done. Next time you find a deal like that, please post it in the Hot Deals forum topic so we can all take advantage. :-)

That’s a spiffy mallet. I have a few pieces of brass rod and a lathe.

Sorry, it was an in store thing. All the handles for the Veritas tools that aren’t 100% perfect get put in box for sale, I also got some plane handles and front knobs, and some some replacement saw handles
