I have an older Leigh dovetail jig and although its not same model as yours I think its pretty much the same idea.

I struggled with the thing for a long time before I finally figured it out. It took me many many attempts before I was able to get perfect through dovetails. There are so many little factors and they all have to be just right if you want perfect fitting joints. However once I finally figured it all out I loved it. I will still have an issue every now and then but for the most part I have no problems using it.

My best advice would be to get a pile of scrap boards and just start learning by using it. I found the online instructions rather useless but you can kind of get enough of an idea from them to start trying it out.

If you get it all figured out its a great jig.
