Its spring and a porch garden bench is needed but what finish.

Problem is the finish I bought is crap. I tried it on a scrap piece of wood. There is dark swirls in the transparent cedar tone (Flood). Its comes from the brush. Well I won’t ruin the project with this crap so I need some suggestions on maybe other products and or methods used.

Also this stuff is thick and I’d like to spray it. Any suggestions on thicker coating material sprayers? My HVLP won’t cut it.
