Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has this bandsaw

I was very close to purchasing a Laguna 14 BX and a friend suggested i take a look at the Rikon 10-353

I never really considered Rikon. Not sure why to be honest. For some reason I think i considered them a lesser quality brand. Silly really, not sure why i though that. When i looked closer at this particular model, it looks impressive. It looks more substantial first of. Its 45 lbs heavier. The new guides look cool. Fence looks nice. Overall it looks like a great saw. But, i have not seen up close. I am pretty sure the Laguna is a quality saw and probably one of the best in the price range. They are very close in price. But is the Rikon right there with it, or perhaps even nicer?

Woodcraft has 10% off of them now for the Laguna, ends today though. The Rikon is 3hp as opposed to 2.5 hp on the Laguna. Laguna uses Blocks the Rikon bearings. 2” less resaw, if that is something you are looking for. I have the C-man Rikon 14”, I upgraded to Carter Bearings which I really like. I have been very happy with it, just would like more resaw, since mine is limited to 7”. Dan

I owned an 18” jet and turned it over for a 10-340. Go with the Rikon. Great tool with a great company behind it. You won’t regret going with a Rikon band saw.

Anthony –
I have a Woodcraft flyer that came in my mail a day or so back, advertising 15% off on Rikon products. The sale’s effective is for March 9 – 19.

FWIW, when i was coming in to the final bandsaw decision last year, I was mentally settled on the 10-353 as well. I sure agree that it is a remarkably well thought out machine. I especially like the Rikon adjustable guide bearings, which I do favor over the ceramics, but that is a purely personal choice. At the very end of the story, however, I switched and got the 10-326. It, too, has the slick new adjustable guide bearings.

I was able to physically inspect both Rikon saws in person here in Houston (as well as the Lagunas), and I realized the 10-326 offered more band saw performance and features than I would need or use. I concluded it was equally impressive and I was okay with spending less.

Good luck! A great new machine like the ones being discussed is very much fun to have and use.

I got that flyer today and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get the 10-326 during the sale.
