Hey All,
I’m just now following the Alder craze here on Lumberjocks and I recalled my first experience “using” Alder about 20 years ago. As a reminder I nailed the box top on my garage wall. (I don’t think the box was Alder.)
However, a day after I finished the “project” it all went down the tubes.

Looks like alder to me.

Never used it. Not a common wood up here. No one seems to carry it. I never even knew what it was until I looked it up.

SO: “North temperate shrubs or trees having toothed leaves and cone like fruit; bark is used in tanning and dyeing and the wood is rot-resistant. Wood of any of various alder trees; resistant to underwater rot; used for bridges etc.”

I prefer Good Old Pine! ...lol…

Where do you get all of these Great Lines from Fridgey? (Mine hasn’t “popped” yet!) Hey! I’m only 73! Lots of time left! :-}
