For anyone wondering when Grizzly may get many of their items back in stock, I received this reply to my inquiry today:

“We appreciate your interest in our products. The G0490 Jointer is currently out of stock on backorder and is expected to arrive in our warehouse on approximately March 30, 2018. Also backordered is the G0771Z Table Saw, which is expected approximately April 13, 2018. Once received, backorders are processed and shipped to arrive in approximately three to five business days. We do fill backorders first, and shipping and handling charges are prorated and charged as the items are shipped from our warehouse. We apologize for the delay and any inconvenience this may cause.

Please visit our website at www.grizzly.com to verify current pricing of our products.

You are more than welcome to place an order through our website or by calling our Customer Service at 1-800-523-4777. Operators are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Alternatively, you can reply to this email to provide your name, complete billing and shipping addresses, phone number, and a complete list of the items you wish to order. We will be happy to set up the order and provide you with instructions for calling with payment information. Please note, if your order is set up via email, stock is not guaranteed until you call with payment information. For security reasons, we do not recommend sending your credit card information over email.”

What is up with them? When my lathe failed a few weeks back, and I was shopping around only their most expensive lathes were available. Backorder estimates ran into late summer. I had no idea the problem affected their whole stock.

Shiraz Balolia gave a pretty extensive explanation as to what’s going on over on the Sawmill Creek forum. Basically they are two main reasons for the delays, 1) they expanded their factory which actually caused delays and 2) Chinese gov cracked down on cast iron plants which slowed down production.

He said it’s a “will get worse before it gets better” situations. That was about a month and a half ago. Take it FWIW.

Those dates don’t mean squat. When those dates come around chances are quite high you’ll get another email with new dates. After four months waiting on the G0490X and a third delivery date of another four months out I cancelled and bought a Powermatic 54HH.

This explains a lot. Back in the beginning of November I ordered a riser kit for my 14” G0555LANV bandsaw. They said it was on back order, and still is. Since then, they replaced that model bandsaw with the 35th anniversary edition. I’m assuming I will never get the riser I need, which is black, since the others are green.
