Topic tags/keywords: planer review grizzly g0815

I am setting up my woodshop and have a chance to buy a barely used Grizzly G0815 planer but can’t find any recent reviews on it. Anyone here has any input on this planer? It will be my only planer, mostly just finish planer work but it looks really robust compared to the dewalt 735.
Thanks in advance

It’s not cheap he won’t come off of $800. But it’s actually a couple months old and only used a couple times. He moved and has no hobby shop anymore. New would run $995 + tax + $169 shipping so about $1250 new.

Not only more robust, but also has a 240 volt induction motor, which will be quieter and last a lot longer than the 735’s universal motor.

I wouldn’t be excited about paying $800
for an Invicta knock-off. I just sold a 15”
Delta/Invicta copy for $300. It was kind of
beat up and a no-name brand but it worked
well enough. I’ve seen plenty of similar
planers in my local market in the $3-500
range, but local markets vary.

I poo-pooed the 2hp motor on my planer
in another thread but other than that it
was fine.

I agree I’m not too excited about the $$800 but I did look at it today and it is in pristine condition. Looks like it was just delivered.

I’ve been looking for months but so far nothing even comes close to this thing in my local market.(and by local market I mean within 250 miles)
I was very fortunate so far to pick up some really nice toys but the planer has just been kicking my butt.
I’ve managed to pick up a Powematic TS like new, JET jointer, JET disk/belt Sander, New Delta 18-900l drill press, delta mortiser all for really really good deals but this darn planer issue is driving me nuts.

Have your say...
