how to finish paduk?

hi , im trying to figure the best way to finish paduk with sap on the edges, the finish seems to bleed over to the sap wood and have to re sand over and over . thanks

Paint a little diluted white glue (glue size) over the sapwood, or use another type of finish, such as a waterborne. I assume that you are referring to the bleed-over of red into the sapwood (I don’t believe I have ever seen a piece of padauk with sapwood – is it white?) when you use a solvent based finish such as shellac or lacquer.

BTW- great handle!
