I’m making almost everything in my shop movable, and the next thing I’m working on is the miter saw mobile cabinet. There are no end to ideas for these, and I’m going to build one with very simple fold down side wings for longer stock.
Miter saws are tough to manage decent dust collection, so I was toying with not connecting to my dc, but just installing a dedicated shop vac inside the cabinet. I’d have an auto switch to toggle the vac on with the saw.
I’d also modify connections to the saw to maximize dust collection
Think this would work?

Good idea, Matthias Wandell has a theory he puts forth currently that DC should be independent to each machine. This is the short version, see here for the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkTVwE_8oHM

While it may be impractical to take up extra space for every machine to have its own collection for what you want this approach is workable as he demonstrates. You can do what he did and make your own or go simple and have a DC under the saw. Something is better than nothing ya know?
