I added a dw790 to the shop yesterday. I still have to get it set up. It is in fairly good shape. Adjustments seem to work and the motor run extremely smooth and is so quiet I can barely hear it run. It is wired for 220. I am going to run strictly a dado blade on it. I have a wall unit to build next week that is 10’ tall and 30’ wide and all sections have just 4 fixed shelves dadoed in evenly spaced apart. Cutting the dados will be easy now. I will likely set blade hieght off table at 3/8”. Using a tape measure it does appear that I should be able to set the saw up to cut out to between 17” and 18” or so.

I gave 200. I plan to fully renovate and restore this saw soon when I get some extra time. It will be a work horse in our shop.

In about two months we are inheriting a new, never been used Ridgid raw my dad bought a long time ago and never set up. I am going to install the Ridgid right next to the Dw and run a regular thin Kerr blade as a secondary to our sliding miter saw. We sometimes get log jams at the miter station.

I’m sorry, but … I’m guessing you know the rules:

No pics.
Didn’t happen.

I will have to get a pic. :)

I am very anxious to get this saw in service. It looks to be all the saw I need. It is 17/8.5 amps rated and should be perfect for us. I will love the 17” arm reach and depending on how far I can set the fence back I might get 18”.

Not that this is of any interest to anyone, but I managed to cut a little more then 60 dados for a 30’ long wall shelving unit I am building. I got it installed in my shop and it runs like a dream. The saw adjusted nicely and seems to hold the adjustments well. A very nice and sturdy piece of equipment for a great price.

Jerry:

Whatever it might say about ME … I found that post, about cutting the 60 dados … to be HUGELY interesting :-)

Don’t forget: your love of woodworking and power tools MAY BE a sickness, but … if it is … you’re anything BUT alone, here :-)

Uh …. pics ?? ;-)

Bently: if anybody ever asked me what the one LUXURY tool I might want is … it’d be a good panel saw. Can’t see that I’ll EVER buy one (more likely to buy a track saw), but they are SO cool !
