I have a beautiful Mahogany set that i purchased a few days ago. It’s antuique and the finish is worn away in some spots and there is a noticable water stain on the night stand. i was wondering the best way to go about refinishing it. I must admit I don’t have lots of time to invest into a lengthy project. I saw beautiful furniture with lots of potential. I was wondering if i could just stain over the discolored areas, then varnish it? Any helpful hints or ideas would be greatly appreciated

This is a good situation for a gel stain. You may have to mix and match but it is very easy. Good luck

In most cases refinishing an antique will lower its value. Not sure if that’s a concern.
