Hello all, First let me say that I have spent hours reading all of your very interesting posts! I just missed out on an OLD 8 inch Delta jointer. Seems that a friend of the seller wanted it, so I was told never mind. It was nothing special, just the bare machine on a table with the motor below. Would have been perfect for me, given my lack of floor space. I would have mounted it on some 2-bys, elevated with more 2-bys for clearance, and mounted the motor on the end. It would have stood in the corner when not needed, and set on sawhorses when necessary. So if anyone has a bare machine in the 8 inch range that’s turning to rust and taking up space, I’d like to hear about it. I have a sandblaster, so any condition is OK, as long as all of the parts are there. Now about my shaper. About 15 years ago I got tired of the router and table deal and decided to buy a NEW shaper! If you’re not familiar with a Delta 43-505, It’s a modest, powerful, tabletop machine, and BOY is it a step up from a router. It came with collets for 1/2 in. and 1/4 in. router bits. Available as an option were the parts so that you could use regular 1/2 in shaper cutters. Well, I figured that I’d buy that later, but now that later is here, it’s not available. I checked quite a few sources, but got shot down. I’m pretty sure that I can machine one, but if anyone has a better idea, I’d love to hear it. Thanks to you all, Ken

Well….....like I said, space is at a premium, but it was a major step up!

Have your say...
